Love is in the Air!

February is one of my favorite months! Mostly because it is the “Month of LOVE”! Valentine’s Day has always been my 2nd favorite holiday, Christmas being the 1st!

There’s just something about a day dedicated to LOVE that just stirs up the Romantic Soul in me! I’ve taken it a step further and look at February as “The Month of Love”! In a world so desperately seeking and in need of pure LOVE, it seems that it is only appropriate to look for ways to intentionally LOVE people in this Month of Love!  What is this kind of pure LOVE? The definition I go by can be found in 1st Corinthians 13:

 

“If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

 

While I am the first to admit that I fall short many times of living out this definition of LOVE…. I do sincerely strive to LOVE this way day after day…the more I practice the better I get at it! It doesn’t come naturally and I must rely on God’s grace & power to enable me to see people through His eyes and to allow His kind of LOVE to flow through me to others!  I encourage you this month to make it a point to really soak in the above definition of LOVE and to ask God to show you how to LOVE those He puts in your life and to empower you to LOVE in this way. The first step to loving others this way is to understand one very important thing…..
