Dump It!

Last week I shared 9 Steps to Creating the Year of Your Dreams with you…… If you missed it you can find it here: 9 Steps to Creating the Year of Your Dreams.

REFLECT & WRITE were the 1st 2 steps. This is where I always start, whether it’s thinking about what I want to accomplish in a bright shiny new year…. Or….. when I’m not seeing the results I want in any area of my life, when I’m contemplating a new project, finishing up a project or pondering a business decision.

Why take the time to REFLECT? You might be wondering why you should even bother to take the time to reflect…or wondering what you should reflect on or how/where to start.
Reflection is important because it allows you to look back, relive your successes & evaluate the things that didn’t quite go according to plan. Spending a LITTLE bit of time looking back can be helpful in moving forward……BUT it is very important NOT to spend too much time “back there”! Glean what is useful for planning your year ahead and spend the bulk of your time & energy looking forward! Don’t get stuck in the “over analyzer” role!

WRITE IT…… this is the easy part! Just write down everything that’s in your head pertaining to your reflection of the past year and your thoughts, ideas, dreams & goals for the new year. This is called a Brain Dump. You are literally dumping all those things floating around in your head onto paper so you can clear your mind, enabling you to think more clearly as you prioritize, eliminate & break down into goals & tasks all those great ideas & FABULOUS DREAMS you have! A Brain Dump is probably one of the most stress relieving activities you can do whenever you have all kinds of things taking up brain space!

I encourage you to set aside some time to do these first two steps in the next few days….you will feel better and you’ll see the ideas will begin to flow…..and any anxiety or stress about “all the stuff” you want/have or need to do will melt away!

Make this YOUR year to SPARKLE & SHINE!
