Patriotic Picnic…Indoors or Out….
WOW!!! in just a few short days we will be celebrating the 4th of July! Our country’s 233rd birthday! God Bless America the Beautiful!
Today, however, is Tablescape Thursday! This is a special day for us dish-divas…we get to have fun dishing up pretty tablescapes for all to enjoy…then we get to visit each other and indulge in our dish dreams! Be sure to pop over to Between Naps on the Porch, say hello to our Chief Dish Diva, Susan and then stop by and say hello to as many others as you can…the list is getting quite lengthy, isn’t it?! I try to rotate and get to as many as I can at least every other time. It’s kind of like sitting down to look at one of my favorite magazines!
Today I am featuring a Patriotic Picnic…this was actually Prince Charming’s menu selection for Father’s Day, but we both agreed it was a perfect 4th of July menu…so that’s how we did it up!
Here’s the “Before” table…..
…the centerpiece I ended up going with (different than I originally set out to create)
and…here’s the “After” tablescape!
This “red, white and blue” tablescape was actually a bit of a challenge for me. If you take a peek around my home, you’ll see there isn’t a whole lot of red white and blue going on…as a matter of fact…hardly any. I’m more of a pink, white and purple gal myself!
But…I wanted this to have the traditional red, white and blue theme…as I searched around I discovered much of what I found was very rustic and country looking in style…that’s all well and good, however, if you noticed while you were peeking around…there’s not much rustic or country to be found in my home either.
What IS a gal to do in this case?
Well…after searching here and looking there…I remembered that my daughter, Princess Brannabee, has red & white toile dishes and blue & white toile dishes and I was pretty sure I remembered buying her red goblets for Christmas one year…..a phone call later and I was pleased to find that I remembered correctly!
One challenge down…..
A bonus is that she also had these great blue dinner plates! Perfect! Now, for the rest of the table…while in a fabric outlet looking for a piece of fabric to cover the table…this after searching everywhere for a tablecloth that was “me” and still red & white…Prince Charming found this beautiful red & cream toile floral print fabric ($12)….Perfect!
Along the way, I had found some little flags and wooden star “wreaths” at Target (in the $1 bins)and some red carnations and white daisies (about $8) at the grocery store…Perfect!
If you stop back tomorrow, I’ll be sharing the recipes for…our menu:
Lobstah Salad Rolls
Corn on the Cob
Crispy French Fries
Garden Fresh Salad
Lemon Cream Berry Trifle
Blue Wine Spritzers
