What’s on Your Walls Wednesday…A Yard Sale Find…30 years ago!
I’m new to this party!
What’s on Your Walls Wednesday sounds like the perfect party for a Interior Decorator like myself…so I decided to join the fun!
Barb over at Grits and Glamour is our talented hostess! Pop over and check out her beautiful blog and the rest of the “Wall Flowers” participating in this party!
The piece I’m sharing with you today is one of my favorites! Although I must say…I believe that if you don’t LOVE “it ” – “it” shouldn’t be on your wall!
So…you’ll probably hear me say that about everything I share with you that’s on my walls!
My Prince and I found this pastel drawing about 30 years ago at a yard sale for around 3 or 4 dollars! At that time it hung in our family room in the sparsely decorated rented apartment we lived in. Since then it has hung in a dining room, a bedroom and now it resides in my powder (hence the reflections of a vanity) on the metallic silver painted walls. There is something familiar about this piece to me…I’ve never quite been able to put my finger on it…just a feeling!
I think it reminds me of my paternal grandmother or a great-aunt…or my romantic notions of them anyway!
There is no signature or markings on it to give us any hint of who the talented artist was…but it is exquisite and still, after all these years, one of my most favorite pieces of art! Princess B. has asked to have it when I no longer “need” it!
Tips for decorating with wall art:
*select pieces you absolutely love
*don’t be concerned with “matching” your decor…sometimes pieces will blend, sometimes contrast…if you consistently select items you love for your home, the items will blend together in a unique way, expressing your unique sense of style!
*hang your artwork around “eye level”…which varies from room to room depending on whether you’ll be primarily sitting, or if the piece is going over a piece of furniture or a mantel…the important thing to remember is that it not be too high or too low, but rather that it relates to furniture placement in the room
Tomorrow is…Tablescape Thursday! One of my favorites! If you love to create a pretty tablescape (not perfect, just pretty) why don’t you join the fun over at Susan’s and stop back here tomorrow, too for some spring-spiration!
