Spring Decorating Trends on WHP-TV….

WHP Segment Spring Decorating

This morning I highlighted some of the trends in decor for spring and summer on WHP-TV.

The “hot” trend colors are aqua, turquoise, pinks, oranges…all carryovers from fall…and black & white and red & black. White is also a big look for rooms this spring/summer.
Two popular themes we talked about are coastal/beach and oriental.

A coastal/beach theme is a casual, light and airy look that fits well in a cottage or country style home. By incorporating a few fresh elements such as striped pillows, seashells in bowls and around candles, some rattan baskets and a distressed table or lamp you can easily and inexpensively update your rooms with this relaxed look.

The oriental theme is adaptable as well, fitting into contemporary, transistional and more traditional decor. It, too, is easy to accomplish with just a few elements such as pillows embroidered with birds and branches of flowers, a contemporary black, red or white lamp base with a shade done in an open oriental floral pattern. Decorative plates and vases are also easy pieces to add without spending a lot of money.

Remember to incorporate a fresh floral arrangement into your room for a breath of fresh air.

Trends are fashion/decor looks that come and go with each season. It is best to remember this when shopping for accessories reflecting the trend you desire so you don’t go overboard by purchasing too many “temporary” pieces or by spending lots of money on them. Many stores offer trend elements at very reasonable price points and just a few go a long way in creating the look you desire.

“Why bother?”, you ask…keeping your rooms fresh and current is fun and easy and breathes new life into a room you may have become bored with.

Is there a room in your home that is calling out for a breath of fresh air?
